This cable is designed to pass a data signal (not an audio signal).
One example of usage can be for 2.5 mm remote ports on AV switches or receivers.
The DB9 side plugs into your serial device or computer system.
Note: the 2.5mm plug is slightly smaller than the 3.5mm plug it fits IPOD, Blackberry and Cameras.
